What we stand for
Volenti non fit injuria.
Volenti takes its name from an old legal idea: to the willing, no wrong is done. Outside the courtroom, it says something plain. What matters is agreement. Not agreement extracted, assumed, or worn out of someone, but agreement freely given by someone who understands what they are agreeing to.
That's the whole company in a sentence. We act by your leave — and we work to make sure your leave means something.
Vision
We want to lead — and to be the proof that operating ethically and honestly makes a company stronger, not weaker.
Not the biggest or the loudest. The example every industry can point to: that kindness, transparency, and honesty are the way forward, not a tax you pay to get there.
Leadership elevates the people around it, and it knows when to step aside. It's measured by what it lifts, not by what it keeps. Anything else is just standing in front — and we won't mistake one for the other.
That's the aim. What follows is how we hold to it — not aspirations, but the lines we keep, including the ones that cost us business.
The lines we keep
The people inside your data are people. Not records, not assets, not material to be moved around for someone's convenience.
Consent is what authorizes anything we do. It isn't a checkbox to route around or a formality to grind past. We build for organizations that treat the people they're responsible for as people — and if a use case depends on treating them as instruments, we are the wrong company for it. We'd rather say that at the start than have either of us find it out later.
We tell you what's true, including the parts that don't help us sell.
We'll tell you what our tools do and, just as clearly, what they don't. A limitation dressed as a feature is a lie with better lighting, and we won't ship it. If something we make prevents one kind of failure but not another, we'll say which is which — because you can't meaningfully agree to a tool you've been misled about. A claim you can't verify is a claim we won't make.
Safety here isn't a promise on a page. It's the shape of the thing.
We build so that mistakes are recoverable and actions leave a trail. We would sooner refuse a change than corrupt a record. Nothing important should be one bad command away from gone, and nothing should happen to your data that can't be explained afterward. You shouldn't have to trust that — you should be able to check it.
What you entrust to us stays yours.
It lives where you chose to put it, under the laws you choose to live under, and we don't quietly extend anyone's reach to it — including our own. We don't claim ownership of your data, and we won't hand its keys to a jurisdiction you never signed up for. Where your information lives is your decision. We build to keep it that way.
A principle you've never had to pay for is just decoration.
Ours are refusal points: things we won't do for money, named before the money is on the table. We stand behind what we ship rather than behind our terms of service. When we get something wrong, we say so plainly and fix it, instead of managing how it sounds. You should be able to hold us to this page.
Trust is the actual product. The software is how we deliver it.
We price fairly and we hold our prices — we'd rather absorb a cost than surprise you with one. We don't gate access to punish you, and we don't change the terms once you've built on us. A company that spends its customers' trust for one good quarter doesn't earn a good decade.
None of this asks you to take our word for it. That's the point. The claims are checkable, the foundations are open for anyone to read, and the lines we keep are stated out loud — so the people we're a bad fit for can learn it early, and the people we're built for know exactly what they're standing on.
